Darren Dewayne Smith, a 55-year-old man from Dallas, Texas, died on April 24, 2020. He was fatally shot by a homeowner, Luis Solis-Cuevas, who claimed Smith was burglarizing a shed behind his home. When confronted, Solis-Cuevas fired shots at Smith, who then fled in his vehicle before crashing. Smith was found shot to death inside the car. Solis-Cuevas was charged with manslaughter for "recklessly" firing his gun.
