On February 15, 1971, Samuel Garcia Infante Jr., a 32-year-old Hispanic male and Deputy Sheriff with the Dallas County Sheriff's Department, was tragically killed in what became known as the Trinity River Massacre. Infante, along with Deputy William Reese and Deputy Arthur Robertson of the Ellis County Sheriff's Department, was abducted by two men while conducting a burglary investigation.
