On the evening of May 4, 2020, 31-year-old Christina Angela Cuteri, a female resident of Aiken, South Carolina, was found in the driver's seat of her vehicle at the intersection of Kathwood Road and Old Jackson Highway with a fatal gunshot wound. Emergency responders were called to the scene, but she was pronounced dead from her injuries. The investigation that followed pointed to a violent crime, leading authorities to identify three suspects in connection with her death.
Investigators
determined that three individuals fired shots into the vehicle occupied by Cuteri and another person. The suspects were identified as Shikorian Markel Corbitt, who was 19 at the time; Shikem Saiquan Wright, age 21; and Daiquan Lamar Lee, who was 23. Within weeks of the incident, law enforcement began to close in on the alleged perpetrators. Shikorian Markel Corbitt was the first to be apprehended, taken into custody in New Ellenton, SC. Not long after, Shikem Saiquan Wright was arrested in Richmond County. The third suspect, Daiquan Lamar Lee, remained at large for a period, with law enforcement seeking public assistance for his capture. Lee was also wanted on outstanding warrants for a separate attempted murder case.
All three men were charged with murder, armed robbery, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Following their arrests, they were held in custody pending legal proceedings. The investigation suggested a history of violent criminal activity among the suspects, further complicating the narrative of the tragic event that cut Christina Cuteri's life short.
