Kermit Barron Gosnell, a former physician, was convicted of horrific crimes involving the illegal and dangerous operations of an abortion clinic in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His actions resulted in the deaths of multiple newborns and one adult patient. Operating under horrifying conditions, Gosnell's "Women's Medical Society" clinic became a house of horrors where countless lives were lost. Gosnell's crimes centered around illegal late-term abortions and the killing of live newborns by severing their spinal cords with scissors, a method he referred to as "snipping." He also practiced under grossly unsanitary conditions, putting patients at extreme risk.Notable Victims
- Karnamaya Mongar (November 19, 2009) – A 41-year-old refugee from Bhutan, Mongar died from a drug overdose administered by Gosnell’s unqualified staff. She was given excessive amounts of Demerol, an opioid painkiller, which led to her death.
- Baby A (2008) – A fully developed newborn boy, weighing nearly 6 pounds, was delivered alive and then murdered by Gosnell, who "snipped" his spinal cord. A photograph of the baby was taken by a clinic worker who later testified against Gosnell.
- Baby C (Date Unknown) – This baby was seen moving and breathing for 20 minutes before Gosnell’s staff "snipped" the spinal cord, killing the infant.
- Baby D (Date Unknown) – This child was delivered into a toilet and attempted to swim before being killed.
