William Paul Thompson: A Detailed Account of His Crimes

Early Life

William Paul "Bud" Thompson was born on May 2, 1938, in Wichita Falls, Texas. His family relocated to New York during his early years. Thompson's father, William Webb Thompson, was a violent alcoholic, subjecting the family to frequent abuse. This tumultuous environment led Thompson to start drinking and engaging in criminal activities by the age of 12, resulting in his placement in reform school. Throughout his life, Thompson was repeatedly incarcerated for crimes such as burglary, forgery, safecracking, and counterfeiting. He claimed to have criminal records in multiple states, including New York, Florida, Texas, Pennsylvania, Georgia, and Kansas. In the 1970s, Thompson married, but his wife passed away from cancer in 1982, an event that reportedly escalated his violent tendencies.

Confirmed Murders

Thompson's known killing spree occurred between March and April 1984, resulting in three confirmed murders:
  • Robert Pariset: On March 25, 1984, Thompson and his associate, Robert Herman Boyle, met brothers Robert and John Pariset at the Murderer's Bar near Auburn, California. After inviting the brothers to their campsite, Thompson shot Robert Pariset in the head with a .22 revolver.
  • John Pariset: Shortly after killing Robert, Thompson shot John Pariset in the head upon his return to the campsite. He then proceeded to rob both brothers.
  • Randy Waldron: On April 21, 1984, while on the run, Thompson encountered Randy Waldron, a 28-year-old transient, near the Sands Hotel in Reno, Nevada. Thompson shot Waldron in the head, killing him instantly.

Apprehension and Confessions

Thompson was apprehended on April 21, 1984, shortly after murdering Randy Waldron. Following his arrest, he confessed to the three murders mentioned above and claimed responsibility for additional killings in other states. However, these additional confessions remain unsubstantiated. ...Read More
