Andrew Wessel Six: A Detailed Account of His Crimes

Early Crimes and the 1984 Triple Homicide

In April 1984, a series of brutal murders shocked the communities of Drakesville and Eldon in Iowa. The victims were:
  • Justin Alfred Hook Jr., 20: On April 13, 1984, Justin's body was discovered near his burned-out mobile home in rural Drakesville. He had been bludgeoned to death.
  • Sarah Lee Link, 41: Justin's mother, Sarah, was reported missing on April 14, 1984. Her body was found on April 16, 1984, in a farm field near Eldon, Iowa. She had suffered fatal blunt force trauma.
  • Tina Marie Lade, 19: Justin's fiancée, Tina, was found deceased on April 18, 1984, in a ravine close to where Sarah's body was discovered. She too had been beaten to death.
At the time, the investigation did not lead to any arrests, and the case went cold.

The 1987 Abduction and Murder of Kathy Allen

On April 10, 1987, Andrew Six and his uncle, Donald Petary, approached the Allen family in Ottumwa, Iowa, under the pretense of purchasing a used pickup truck. Once inside the Allen home, they bound the family members and assaulted them. Six raped the family's pregnant teenage daughter and attempted to abduct the entire family. While some members managed to escape, Six and Petary kidnapped 12-year-old Kathy Allen, who was mentally handicapped. They transported her across state lines into Missouri, where they sexually assaulted her, slit her throat, and dumped her body near Highway 63. The next day, Six and Petary were apprehended in Texas. They led authorities to Kathy's body in Missouri. Both were convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to death. Six was executed by lethal injection on August 20, 1997, while Petary died in prison in 1998.

Cold Case Resolution: Linking Six to the 1984 Triple Homicide

In 2011, the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation's Cold Case Unit revisited the unsolved 1984 triple homicide. DNA evidence recovered from inside Tina Lade's jeans was resubmitted for analysis. The results matched Andrew Six's DNA profile. Further investigation revealed that Six had been a suspect in 1984 due to a dispute over a vehicle purchase with Justin Hook Jr. However, at that time, there wasn't enough evidence to charge him. The new DNA evidence, along with matching footwear impressions found near the bodies, conclusively linked Six to the murders of Justin Hook Jr., Sarah Link, and Tina Lade. ...Read More
