Overview
On September 2, 2024 (Labor Day), four riders were shot and killed aboard a Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) Blue Line train as it traveled near the Harlem/Forest Park area. Forest Park police and the Cook County State’s Attorney charged 30-year-old
Rhanni S. Davis with four counts of first-degree murder. Authorities described the attack as a sudden, unprovoked assault on riders who appeared to be sleeping.
Timeline of the Crime
Shortly before 5:30 a.m. CDT, the train approached the Forest Park terminal; police later said the shooting began near Harlem station on the Oak Park–Forest Park line. At 5:27 a.m., Forest Park Police received a 911 call reporting multiple people shot; three victims were pronounced dead on the train and a fourth died shortly after at a hospital.
