Simeon Bihesi, a 28-year-old man from Forest Park, Illinois, died on September 2, 2024, as a result of a tragic shooting incident on a Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) train. The incident occurred early in the morning when Bihesi and three other individuals were shot while they were sleeping on the inbound Blue Line train. The shooting is believed to have taken place near the Harlem Blue Line station, just one stop away from where the victims were found in Forest Park.
CTA workers discovered the scene around 5:30 a.m. as the train arrived at the Forest Park station. Upon arrival, police found three victims dead at the scene, and a fourth victim, who was in a different train car, was transported to Loyola University Medical Center, where they later succumbed to their injuries. Simeon Bihesi was identified as one of the victims, along with Adrian Collins, a 60-year-old man, and Margaret Miller, a 64-year-old woman. The fourth victim, a 52-year-old man, has not been named pending notification of his next of kin.
The autopsy results revealed that Bihesi died from multiple gunshot wounds, while Collins died from a gunshot wound to the abdomen, Miller from a gunshot wound to the head, and the fourth victim from multiple gunshot wounds. All four deaths were ruled as homicides.
The suspect in the shooting, identified as Rhanni Davis, 30, of Chicago, was apprehended within 90 minutes of the incident. Davis was taken into custody at a CTA Pink Line station in Chicago after fleeing the scene of the crime. He was charged with four counts of first-degree murder by the Forest Park police.
The community of Forest Park was deeply affected by this incident, which occurred on Labor Day. Mayor Rory Hoskins expressed the community's shock and concern, highlighting the need for increased resources to support public safety in the area. Simeon Bihesi's funeral was held on September 10, 2024, at the Zimmerman-Harnett Funeral Home in Forest Park, followed by his burial at Concordia Cemetery.
