Israel Mendez, a 25-year-old man from Maywood, Illinois, was tragically shot to death on March 20, 2021, in Forest Park. The incident occurred in the first block of Harlem Avenue, near the CTA Green Line terminal. Officers responded to reports of shots fired and discovered Mendez in a vehicle parked outside the terminal. He was suffering from a gunshot wound and was immediately taken to Loyola University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
