Adrian Collins, a 60-year-old man, was one of the four victims in a tragic shooting incident that occurred on a Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) Blue Line train. The incident took place early Monday morning, September 2, 2024, as the train arrived at the Forest Park terminal.
Collins, along with the other victims, was found shot on the train. He suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Despite being taken to Loyola Hospital, Collins succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
The shooting is described as a random attack, with no evidence of robbery or other motives. The suspect, identified as Rhanni Davis, 30, was positioned in front of Collins, who raised his hands in a defensive posture before being shot in the torso.
The other victims included Simeon Bihesi, 28, Margaret Miller Johnson, 64, and Sean Jones, 52. Bihesi and Johnson were among the three victims found shot in one train car, while Collins was in the next car. Jones's identity was confirmed after the initial report, as officials had to notify his next of kin.
Davis faces four counts of first-degree murder and has been denied pretrial release. He has a history of weapons offenses in Chicago, although this was his first contact with Forest Park police. The case is ongoing, with Davis next due in court on September 27, 2024.
