Background
Salvador Rolando Ramos was born on May 16, 2004, in North Dakota and later lived in Uvalde, Texas, with his grandparents. He was described as shy, socially isolated, and a victim of bullying due to a speech impediment. Ramos dropped out of high school because of poor attendance and declining academic performance .
In the days following his 18th birthday (May 16, 2022), Ramos legally purchased two AR-15-style rifles and large amounts of ammunition at local licensed dealers .
May 24, 2022 – Attack Begins
On the morning of May 24, 2022, Ramos had an argument with his 66-year-old grandmother over a phone bill. He shot her in the face at their home in Uvalde; she survived and managed to call the police .
He then stole the family truck, crashed it in a ravine near Robb Elementary School at about **11:28 a.m. CDT**, and proceeded toward the school wearing body armor and armed with rifles .

At approximately **11:30–11:33 a.m.**, Ramos entered Robb Elementary School—specifically classrooms 111 and 112—through a door that had been propped open. He fired more than 100 rounds in a span of minutes . Schools locked down by **11:43 a.m.** .
Inside a single classroom, Ramos killed **21 people**—**19 children** and **2 teachers**—and injured **17 others** before being shot and killed by U.S. Border Patrol tactical agents roughly **77 minutes** after entering, around **12:50 p.m.** .
