Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa Mass Shooting in Boulder, Colorado – March 2021
Background
Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa, aged 21 at the time, lived in Arvada, Colorado; he was born in Raqqa, Syria, on April 17, 1999, and became a naturalized U.S. citizen. His family came to the U.S. in 2002 and moved to Arvada in 2014. He had a history of troubling behavior, including being convicted of assault in 2018 for punching a classmate—he received probation and community service. Authorities determined that Alissa legally purchased a Ruger AR-556 semi-automatic pistol six days before the shooting, and likely carried a 9mm handgun as well.
