On the night of August 26, 2022, a violent incident unfolded in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, claiming the life of 18-year-old male Jaquavion Mackins. Officers from the Cape Girardeau Police Department were dispatched to the 2800 block of Whitener Street around 9:30 p.m. following reports of gunfire in the residential neighborhood.
