Anthony Hempstead, a 26-year-old Black man, was shot and left in the quiet back spaces of Cape Girardeau on June 28, 2014. Police later documented that he was found in an alley in the 800-block of Jefferson Avenue with gunshot wounds, and he was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
