On November 16, 2022, law enforcement officers from the Independence Police Department were dispatched to an apartment complex located in the 16900 block of Larkspur Lane in Independence, Missouri, following reports of gunfire. Upon their arrival at the residence around 9:45 p.m., they encountered a chaotic scene where a man was calling out that his wife had been shot.
