In the late evening hours of August 16, 2020, a domestic disturbance in an Independence, Missouri, home escalated to a fatal conclusion, ending the life of 44-year-old Kimah McDonald. That night, as tensions mounted between Kimah and her estranged husband, Larnell McDonald, she sent a text message to her brother, expressing fear and stating that Larnell was threatening her.
