On Sunday, October 16, 2016, a road rage incident in Independence, Missouri, claimed the life of Whitney Gray, a 22-year-old female resident of the area. Gray was driving her minivan near the intersection of Winner Road and Sterling Avenue, accompanied by her two young sons, ages three years and six months, and her 16-year-old niece. The events leading to the tragedy began shortly after she left a grocery store at 23rd Street and Sterling Avenue.
