On the night of September 15, 2023, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Independence, Missouri police responded to a call in the 2000 block of South Harvard Avenue. A 911 caller reported an unresponsive individual lying on the ground. Upon arrival, officers discovered 39-year-old Jennifer L. Scott deceased in front of a residence, having suffered a fatal gunshot wound.
