On February 9, 2024, 44-year-old Janessa Cherie Russell of Independence, Missouri, tragically lost her life in a double homicide. The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. at a residence in the 1300 block of North Lynn Street, where officers discovered two women with fatal gunshot wounds: Janessa Russell and 47-year-old Jessika Koehler.
