Detectives quickly turned their attention to digital evidence to piece together the events leading up to the slaying. By executing a search warrant on social media accounts, authorities uncovered messages sent before and after the shooting that implicated specific individuals in a coordinated plan. The investigation revealed that the incident was not a random act of violence but a calculated robbery attempt targeting the victim for drugs and money. This digital trail, combined with other investigative leads, pointed law enforcement toward suspects who had allegedly orchestrated the crime.
Authorities subsequently identified and arrested two young men in connection with the murder. Ivory D. Alford, Jr., an 18-year-old from Kansas City, was taken into custody and charged with second-degree murder and first-degree attempted robbery. During police interviews, Alford initially claimed he had knowledge of the robbery but was not present, though he later admitted to setting up the heist. He alleged that he and accomplices entered the home after watching Persinger go inside, although he denied being the one who pulled the trigger. Another suspect, 17-year-old Isaiah Woods-Miller, was also charged in relation to the crime, which prosecutors described as a setup gone swiftly and terribly wrong.
