In Independence, Missouri, a tragic sequence of events unfolded on November 7, 2024, resulting in the death of two-month-old Destinii Hope and her thirty-four-year-old mother, Maria Pike. The incident began when police officers responded to a domestic disturbance call at the Oval Spring Apartments. The call was placed by Talisa Coombs, Destinii’s grandmother, who reported that she had been assaulted by Pike.
