In the summer heat of July 3, 2023, a violent altercation in Gulf Shores, Alabama, tragically cut short the life of 40-year-old Jason Daniel Estabrook. What began as a dispute between brothers escalated with shocking suddenness, leaving one man dead and the other facing a murder charge. The Baldwin County Sheriff's Office responded to a call on Fort Morgan Road to find Jason Estabrook in the front yard of a residence, unresponsive and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Despite the immediate response of medical personnel, he could not be revived.
The preliminary investigation by deputies on the scene pointed to a domestic argument that had spiraled out of control. Throughout the evening, tensions had reportedly been rising between Jason and his older brother, 49-year-old James Estabrook of Huntsville. At some point during the confrontation, James allegedly armed himself and shot his younger brother three times.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, James Estabrook was detained at the scene by law enforcement. He was subsequently arrested and formally charged with murder. Following his arrest, he was transported to the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office Corrections Center. The investigation into the fatal shooting is ongoing as authorities continue to piece together the events that led to the deadly family dispute.
