William Ronald Toney, a 31-year-old police officer with the Beech Grove Police Department in Indiana, tragically lost his life on September 29, 2000. The incident occurred during a foot pursuit of a car theft suspect. The sequence of events began when another officer noticed a suspicious van and attempted to stop it.
