In the spring of 2014, a night of violence on the Northeastside of Indianapolis claimed the life of 29-year-old Ronald Howard. On April 16th, Howard was discovered inside a car near the intersection of 30th Street and Massachusetts Avenue, suffering from a fatal gunshot wound. The scene, as described by responding officers, suggested that drug-related activities may have been a contributing factor to the tragic event.
Another individual was also injured in the shooting but survived.
The investigation into Howard's death moved forward, and less than two weeks later, an arrest was made. A 23-year-old man was taken into custody in connection with the homicide. The subsequent legal proceedings identified the accused as Deandre Kendrick. Investigators and prosecutors worked to build a case against him, linking him to the events that transpired on that April evening.
Two years after the fatal shooting, the case against Deandre Kendrick reached its conclusion in the courtroom. Following a trial, Kendrick was convicted for the murder of Ronald Howard. In June of 2016, he was sentenced for his role in the crime that cut a young man's life short.
