In the summer of 2023, 19-year-old Elijah Martin, a male from Indianapolis, made plans for a firearm transaction that would tragically end his life. On July 12, he arranged to meet Jeremiah Shanks, a young man who had previously dated his sister, to either sell or trade a gun. The meeting was set to take place at the Brownstone Apartments on North Meridian Street. Unbeknownst to Martin, the encounter was not destined to be a simple exchange.
