In the early morning hours of Wednesday, January 19, 2022, Eugene Kestner Jr., a 43-year-old male, was found shot on the front porch of a residence on the east side of Indianapolis. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to a report of a person shot in the 500 block of South Emerson Avenue, near English Avenue, shortly before 7 a.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered Mr. Kestner with gunshot wounds.
