In the early morning hours of July 12, 2021, a report of shots fired in the 11000 block of Brookville Road on the far east side of Indianapolis prompted a police response. Officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department arrived at the scene around 1:30 a.m. following a call suggesting a person might be injured and in danger. Despite an initial search of the area, no victim was located at that time.
Later that day, the investigation led authorities to a nearby retention
pond. The Indiana State Police Dive Team was called to the scene and discovered the body of 33-year-old Steven Israel II. The Marion County Coroner's Office later confirmed his identity. While the circumstances pointed towards a violent end, the exact cause of his death was not immediately determined by officials.
The death of Steven Israel, a male, is being investigated as a homicide by the IMPD Homicide Office. He was a father of three with another child on the way and was known in the fishing community. As of the latest available reports, no arrests have been made in connection with his death, and no suspects have been publicly identified.
