In the winter of 2014, the life of 37-year-old Terrill Fenderson was tragically cut short. On December 5th, he was discovered deceased inside a vehicle located in an alley in Hammond, Indiana. An investigation revealed that he had sustained fatal gunshot wounds.
The circumstances surrounding his death were entangled with a larger criminal web involving drug-related activities.
While the investigation into his murder unfolded, a related case brought some clarity to the violent events that led to his demise. Although not a direct conviction for his murder, the trial of Anthony E. Stewart shed light on the motive. Prosecutors argued that Fenderson was the intended victim in a shooting for which Stewart was ultimately convicted of attempted murder, among other charges.
Evidence presented during the trial connected Fenderson to the incident, as the vehicle involved in the shooting was registered in his name, and his driver's license was found inside. The car also contained cocaine packaged for sale. Phone calls made by Stewart from jail further implicated his involvement and pointed to Fenderson as the target.
