In June of 2015, in Anderson, Indiana, a 72-year-old man named Billy Joe Cox was reported missing. The circumstances of his disappearance caused concern among his family and friends, prompting a search for the elderly man. Tragically, the search concluded with the discovery of Mr. Cox's body.
Subsequent investigation into his death determined that Billy Joe Cox died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
His passing was not the result of foul play, and therefore, there was no criminal investigation into suspects or any arrests made in connection with his death.
Billy Joe Cox was born in Elwood and raised in Alexandria, Indiana. He had a long work history, having been employed at Barber Manufacturing, Shacks Rubber Company, and later retiring from Thompson Consumer Electronics in 1999. He was a family man, survived by his wife, Patricia E. Cox, and a large extended family that included children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He had a passion for horses, was a barrel racer for many years, and enjoyed being a cowboy. His other interests included fishing, watching old westerns and wrestling, woodworking, and tending to his yard. He was also described as a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys.
