In Anderson, Indiana, on the night of December 7, 2024, a domestic dispute at the Steeplechase Apartments tragically escalated, resulting in the death of 28-year-old Dustin Michael Rhodes. The male victim was found with a gunshot wound and transported to a local hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The events leading to the fatal shooting began with a heated altercation between Rhodes and his fiancée, Alyssa Young.
During the argument, Rhodes reportedly threw Young to the ground. In response, Young contacted three acquaintances for assistance: Brandon Brooks, Mason J.M. Miller, and Jordan Goode. A physical confrontation ensued between Rhodes and Brooks, during which Brooks claims to have struck Rhodes multiple times.
Following the altercation, Rhodes was discovered to have been fatally shot. The subsequent police investigation led to the arrest of four individuals. Mason J.M. Miller, 22, of Chesterfield, faces the most severe charges, including murder and unlawful possession of a firearm. Brandon Brooks, 30, of Anderson, and Alyssa Young, 27, of Pendleton, have both been charged with involuntary manslaughter, assisting a criminal, and battery resulting in serious bodily injury. A fourth suspect, 32-year-old Jordan Goode of Pendleton, was later arrested and charged with involuntary manslaughter and assisting a criminal. The firearm believed to have been used in the shooting was later recovered by law enforcement.
