In the early hours of a Sunday morning, violence erupted at the 'Brothers of the Wheel' Motorcycle Club in Anderson, leaving a young man dead and two others wounded. Antwan Bradshaw, a 21-year-old male from Indianapolis, was fatally shot twice in the abdomen. He was rushed to Community Hospital of Anderson but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
The incident, which marked the city's fifth homicide of the year, also left Bradshaw's uncle, Antonio Jefferson, and Delisha Dixon, the daughter of an Anderson City Councilman, with gunshot wounds. Jefferson was shot in the groin, and Dixon was shot in the lower leg; both survived the attack.
Within hours of the shooting, law enforcement identified and apprehended a suspect, Maurice Carter. Following an intense manhunt, police located Carter and, after a brief chase, arrested him at a nearby residence. Carter was subsequently charged with one count of murder and two counts of attempted murder and was held in the Madison County jail.
The motive for the shooting remained unclear to investigators. The president of the motorcycle club stated that Carter was not a member and that his reasons for being at the club and opening fire were unknown. Authorities indicated there were no known provocations for the attack, leaving the community searching for answers. Carter was reported to have a criminal history that included burglary and drug possession.
