On the evening of October 15, 2019, 39-year-old Sulaiman Jalloh, a husband and father of six, was fatally shot during an armed robbery at a Marathon gas station on Gresham Road in DeKalb County, Georgia. Jalloh was in his vehicle when he was attacked.
Surveillance footage from the gas station showed two men, later identified as Cordarius Dorsey and Quintavious Jackson, waiting for Jalloh to arrive.
Investigators believe the suspects knew that Jalloh often carried a significant amount of cash. When Jalloh pulled up to the gas station, Dorsey approached his car while Jackson acted as a lookout. Jalloh attempted to close his car door, but Dorsey forced it open, leading to a struggle. During the altercation, Dorsey shot Jalloh in the chest. Jackson then approached the vehicle and took a bag from Jalloh before both men fled the scene. Jalloh was transported to a hospital where he died from his injuries.
An investigation was launched, and witnesses provided descriptions of the suspects. Quintavious Jackson, 26 at the time, was arrested on October 25, 2019, and charged with malice murder and armed robbery. Cordarius Dorsey remained at large for three months before being captured at a hotel in College Park on January 16, 2020. A search of Jackson's home uncovered clothing worn by the suspects on the night of the murder, and DNA from both men was found on a hat left at the scene.
In December 2022, a DeKalb County jury found both Cordarius Dorsey, then 33, and Quintavious Jackson, then 29, guilty in connection with Jalloh's armed robbery and murder. Dorsey was found guilty of Malice Murder, Felony Murder, Armed Robbery, Aggravated Assault, and firearm possession charges. Jackson was convicted of Felony Murder, Armed Robbery, Aggravated Assault, and a firearm charge. Both men, identified as members of the Slaughter Gang, with Dorsey also being associated with Young Slime Life, were sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
