In the summer of 2016, the life of 40-year-old Tavarius Robinson was tragically cut short in what police have described as a double homicide. On the morning of June 8th, Atlanta police responded to a 911 call reporting gunshots at a residence on Lewis Road SE. Inside the home, they discovered the bodies of Robinson and another man, 38-year-old Dante Sutton.
Both men had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Investigators at the scene found no signs of forced entry into the house, and it did not appear to have been ransacked. According to the police, it did not seem as though either of the victims had fired a weapon. A white car, believed to belong to one of the victims, was towed from outside the home. While the motive for the killings was not immediately clear, authorities stated that robbery was being considered as a strong possibility.
In the course of their investigation, the Atlanta Police Department identified a person of interest. Surveillance footage from the area showed a woman who was seen at the home approximately 30 minutes before the shooting occurred. The police publicly released images from this footage in the hopes that she could be identified and provide more information about the events leading up to the deaths of Robinson and Sutton.
Despite their efforts and the identification of a person of interest, the case has grown cold. As of early 2017, the murders of Tavarius Robinson and Dante Sutton were officially listed among Atlanta's unsolved homicides for 2016. There have been no subsequent announcements of any arrests made or suspects charged in connection with their deaths. The investigation into who killed the two men remains open.
