In the late summer of 2018, the life of 35-year-old Jeremy Boyd was tragically cut short in Anderson, Indiana. On the evening of August 17th, Boyd was shot in what authorities believe was an armed robbery. Fatally wounded, he sought help at a neighbor's home, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries on their back porch. His death marked one of four separate fatal shootings to occur in Anderson during that same month, shaking the community.
For months, Jeremy Boyd's case remained the
only unsolved homicide from that period of violence in the city. Investigators with the Anderson Police Department continued to pursue leads. Their work eventually pointed them to a former Anderson resident, 30-year-old Ronald Coleman Williams Jr. of Marion. In January 2019, authorities arrested Williams, bringing a significant development to the case that had been without resolution for five months.
Following his arrest, Ronald Williams Jr. was charged with Murder and Armed Robbery for his alleged role in Jeremy Boyd's death. He was subsequently booked into the Madison County Jail and held without bond pending further legal proceedings. The arrest offered a measure of progress for a community troubled by the string of violent deaths and for the family and friends of Jeremy Boyd who were left mourning his loss.
