On a summer evening in Fort Wayne, Indiana, tragedy befell 30-year-old Melvin Palmer III. On July 9, 2015, Palmer was fatally shot, an event that would lead to a complex investigation and the eventual conviction of two teenage brothers. The incident began when Palmer, riding as a passenger in a friend's car, pulled over near the intersection of Winter Street and Rudisill Boulevard. He got out of the vehicle and approached a teenager, holding money.
