Kenneth William Hayden, a sergeant with the Fort Wayne Police Department, tragically succumbed to complications from an accidental gunshot wound he sustained on August 19, 1974. At the time of the incident, Sergeant Hayden was responding to a robbery-in-progress call at a liquor store. During the response, he was accidentally shot in the leg by his own firearm.
