On a Saturday night in Gary, Indiana, 40-year-old Jerome Long was fatally shot in an incident that also left another man wounded. The shooting occurred on April 16, 2016, in the 3700 block of Monroe Street. Officers found Long with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to Methodist Hospital Northlake, where he was pronounced dead later that evening. The Lake County Coroner's Office subsequently ruled his death a homicide.
