In the spring of 2018, the life of 18-year-old Stachonn Robert Nance Sr. was tragically cut short on the east side of Indianapolis, Indiana. A young Black man and a new father, Stachonn was shot and killed on April 23, 2018. The incident occurred around 5:55 p.m. near the intersection of Tiffany Drive and Penway Street, where officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to a report of a person shot.
Upon their arrival, they discovered Stachonn suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite the immediate response, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Marion County Coroner's Office later confirmed that the cause of his death was multiple gunshot wounds and officially ruled it a homicide. In the aftermath of the shooting, homicide detectives began their investigation, canvassing the neighborhood in search of witnesses or any information that could lead to a suspect.
