A simmering domestic dispute in Indianapolis escalated into a tragic double homicide, claiming the life of 3-month-old Kahdor T. Wilson and his uncle, 37-year-old William Wilson Jr., on a Saturday afternoon in August 2019. The male infant and his uncle were fatally shot inside a residence near East 23rd Street and Guilford Avenue.
The events unfolded after an argument between William Wilson Jr. and his girlfriend, 36-year-old Ivory Smith, which had reportedly begun the previous day.
According to police, the verbal altercation turned violent when Smith armed herself with a gun and shot her boyfriend multiple times. As William Wilson Jr. fled from the room, Smith pursued him.
Believing he had sought refuge in his mother's room, Smith fired shots into the bedroom. Inside, William's mother, Deborah Cooper, was with her grandson, Kahdor. The gunfire struck both Cooper, wounding her in the wrist, and the infant. After emptying the gun, Ivory Smith herself called 911. When police arrived, they found her at the front door.
Despite medical efforts, both William Wilson Jr. and young Kahdor were pronounced dead at the scene. Ivory Smith was arrested and subsequently faced charges for her alleged role in the double homicide. Reports at the time of her arrest indicated she had a prior criminal history, including charges for battery and public intoxication in the years preceding the fatal shooting.
