In the late hours of May 17, 2020, a disagreement over a drug transaction tragically escalated, leading to the death of 43-year-old Pablo Rodriguez. A Hispanic male, Rodriguez was inside a residence in the 4400 block of East Michigan Street in Indianapolis when the fatal events unfolded just after midnight. Responding to reports of a shooting, law enforcement officers arrived to find Rodriguez suffering from gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the
homicide led detectives to review surveillance footage from the area. The video captured a man and a woman exiting a dark-colored SUV, approaching the house where the shooting occurred, and then hastily returning to their vehicle moments later. Through their investigation and witness testimonies, police were able to identify the male suspect as 32-year-old Adam Starr.
In November 2020, Starr was apprehended on a parole violation. By January of the following year, his connection to the May shooting was established, and he was subsequently charged with the murder of Pablo Rodriguez. In addition to the murder charge, Starr also faced a charge of carrying a handgun without a license. Following his arrest, Starr denied his involvement in the incident. The Marion County Prosecutor's Office was tasked with determining the final charges in the case.
