Duan Montez Winfrey, a 33-year-old Black male, became a victim of gun violence on June 6, 2019, in a shooting on the near west side of Indianapolis that also left another person critically injured. Winfrey was a father and a certified welder who was employed at Caito Foods at the time of his death. He was known by loved ones for his dedication to his family, particularly his three children, and his enjoyment of activities like bowling, skating, and working on cars.
