Cory Miller, a 28-year-old Black man, was killed on the evening of November 21, 2017, after a burst of gunfire shattered a routine stop on Indianapolis’ east side. Just after 8 p.m., police were called to the area of East 21st Street and Arlington Avenue, where a shooting had unfolded outside a Family Dollar while customers were still inside the store.
