On September 25, 2023, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) homicide detectives initiated an investigation following the discovery of a 27-year-old man who had been shot and found dead on the near northwest side of Indianapolis. The victim, identified by the Marion County Coroner's Office as Davion Grundy, was found inside a silver SUV in an alley behind a vacant home in the 800 block of West 25th Street, near Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Street.
