On a summer evening in Indianapolis, Indiana, what began as a regular Friday on June 19, 2020, ended in tragedy. Zyair Ja'Linc Herron, a 27-year-old male, was found deceased inside a residence in the 4000 block of Hampshire Court, near East 42nd Street and North Post Road. Officers responded to a report of a person shot around 9:30 p.m. and discovered Herron had sustained several gunshot wounds.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Herron, born on October 25, 1992, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, was described as a fun-loving person with a charming smile who lived his life to the fullest and never met a stranger. He was a father to seven children. Having grown up in Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, and Louisiana, he had a love for travel, dressing well, and playing video games.
The investigation into Herron's death led authorities to a suspect. Surveillance footage from the area captured a man, later identified as Jeremy Satisfield, exiting a vehicle and walking toward the scene of the crime before the murder. The same footage showed him returning to the vehicle and leaving the area shortly after the shooting. Four days later, investigators arrested Satisfield. During the arrest, the weapon used in the murder was recovered.
In February 2023, following a two-day jury trial, Jeremy Satisfield was convicted of Murder and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon. He was scheduled to be sentenced on March 8 of the same year.
