Dawnta DeWayne Civils, a 19-year-old from Indianapolis, Indiana, died on February 12, 2014, as the result of gun violence. Civils was one of two individuals who were shot and later arrived at the emergency room of Community East Hospital. The shooting took place on the near-east side of Indianapolis, with shell casings discovered by investigators on Brookside Avenue, where the incident likely occurred.
