On November 5, 2023, a fatal shooting occurred on the south side of Indianapolis, Indiana, resulting in the death of 23-year-old Samuel Thian Za Ling. The incident took place in the 5900 block of Madison Avenue, near Edgewood Avenue, around 1:15 a.m. Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) officers responded to reports of gunshots and found five people shot in a nearby parking lot outside the GZ Restaurant & Karaoke.
