In the early evening of November 9, 2024, tragedy struck an apartment complex on the near west side of Indianapolis. Antonio Trotter Sr., a 63-year-old man, was found inside an apartment in the 3800 block of West Michigan Street, near Holt Road, suffering from a gunshot wound. Police had been called to the scene shortly before 6 p.m. on a report of a person shot. Medics arrived but were unable to save him, and Mr.
Trotter was pronounced dead at the scene.
Known to his loved ones as 'Tony,' Antonio Trotter was born on November 8, 1961. He was a father to three children, LaShanna Davis, Sedara Trotter, and Antonio Trotter Jr., and a grandfather to five. His family remembers him as someone who lived life on his own terms and was loved by many.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department is investigating the shooting. While they have stated that they believe it to be an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to the community, authorities have not released any information regarding a possible suspect or a motive for the shooting. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the homicide. Police are asking anyone with information to contact the IMPD Homicide Office or Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana.
