In the spring of 2024, a quiet apartment complex on the north side of Indianapolis became the scene of a somber discovery. On the evening of Monday, May 13th, police responded to reports of a man found deceased inside a truck at the apartments on Biscay Square, off of Westlane Road. The man was identified as 25-year-old Julio Castillo Bedoya. He was a Hispanic male.
Upon their arrival, officers found Bedoya in the driver's seat of his vehicle, which was riddled with bullet holes.
It was a grim tableau that suggested a violent end. Investigators noted that the truck had apparently been running for a significant portion of the day before someone peered inside and made the tragic discovery. The stillness of the scene belied the violence that had taken place, leaving behind more questions than answers.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department immediately launched a homicide investigation into the shooting death of the young man. Detectives began canvassing the area for witnesses and any information that could shed light on when the shooting occurred and who might be responsible.
