In the late hours of a Sunday evening in Indianapolis, tragedy struck Jose Tellez, a 42-year-old Hispanic male. On September 13, 2020, in the 2100 block of Madison Avenue, gunshots shattered the night, leaving Tellez with fatal injuries. Officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to the scene near East Raymond Street around 11:15 p.m.
and discovered Tellez suffering from wounds consistent with being shot.
Paramedics arrived shortly after the police, but it was too late to save his life. Jose Tellez was pronounced dead at the scene, his life cut short by an act of violence. The Marion County Coroner’s office would later confirm that the cause of death was a gunshot wound. The incident was ruled a homicide, prompting an investigation by IMPD detectives.
