A sense of unease settled over a neighborhood on the east side of Indianapolis on the evening of July 18, 2021. Just before 9 p.m. on Marianne Avenue, near East 21st Street and Shadeland Avenue, gunfire erupted, tragically cutting short the life of Marshall Shute, a 34-year-old male. Responding to the scene, police discovered Shute suffering from gunshot wounds.
He was swiftly transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
Despite the efforts of medical staff, Marshall Shute died from his injuries. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department began an investigation into the deadly shooting.
In the immediate aftermath of the incident, authorities did not release any information about a possible suspect. Investigators appealed to the community for assistance, asking anyone with knowledge of the shooting to contact the IMPD Homicide Office or Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana. To date, there has been no public announcement regarding any arrests or the identification of any suspects in connection with the shooting death of Marshall Shute.
